The California Academy of Sciences is Earth's only aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and natural history museum--all under one living roof. We're also home to the Institute for Biodiversity Science and Sustainability, aka more than 100 world-class scientists and 46 million scientific specimens from around the globe, all dedicated to exploring, explaining, and sustaining life on Earth. Located in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, the Academy works to be a powerful voice for science and sustainability through incredible museum exhibits as well as through major projects such as Hope for Reefs, Academy for All, and the Environmental Literacy Initiative.
The mission of the California Academy of Sciences is to regenerate the natural world through science, learning, and collaboration.
Life-changing moments. World-changing science. We’re an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and natural history museum in the heart of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park—and a powerful voice for biodiversity research and exploration, environmental education, and sustainability across the globe.
